The JVBT-55A ( crane recovery bulldozer tank ) is the result of a project whose aim was designing a crane-bulldozer with a higher load capacity than in the VT-55A model, or more precisely, with a load capacity of up to 20 t. It was designed to be deployed together with the VT-55A, especially because it was able to lift heavy equipment (e.g. turret system, medium tanks - at the front or at the rear ) up to the needed height, which enabled the equipment to be repaired directly on the field. Last but not least, it was used for levelling terrain thanks to its bulldozer blade (which can be included in the offer or not).

Development began in Turčianské strojírny n.p. Martin in 1967, in 1970 the first prototype was tested and then the first vehicle series was produced. Production continued until 1983. Total production volume was 508 vehicles. The armour, the protection against WMD and chemical weapons, the engine and the gearbox are identical to the T-55A tank.
